About kWh Today
Radif Partners
Publisher of calculators for the quarter-hourly day-ahead power price in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Poland
kWh Today is published by Radif Partners. It answers a question that dynamic tariffs raise every single day: what does a kilowatt-hour cost at 7 pm today, at 1 pm tomorrow, and is it worth running the washing machine, the heat pump or the car charger a few hours later?
Why this site exists
Most price displays show only the bare exchange value, a few cents that bear little relation to the bill; others show the all-in price of one single supplier. We wanted both side by side: the officially published exchange price for every quarter hour and, next to it, what ends up on the bill once taxes, levies and your own contract markup are added.
kWh Today turns every quarter-hourly exchange price into the price you pay, with the checked taxes of your country and the markup of your contract, finds the cheapest hour for an appliance and compares a dynamic tariff with your fixed price, with no sign-up and no contract brokering.
Where the figures come from
Exchange prices: SMARD, the electricity market platform of Germany’s Federal Network Agency (CC BY 4.0 licence). Dutch consumer prices: CBS StatLine. Taxes: the German Electricity Tax Act, VAT Act and Concession Fee Ordinance, the transmission operators’ levies and the Dutch energy tax. Average grid fees: the monitoring report of the Federal Network Agency and the Federal Cartel Office. Zloty rate: the European Central Bank. Formulas and tests are in the method.
What we are not
Radif Partners is not an authority, not a power exchange and not an electricity supplier. We sell no contracts, take no commission and link to no supplier. Your supplier’s bill is always what counts.
Funding and data
The site is free and needs no sign-up. The calculators run in your browser and nothing you type is stored. If advertising ever appears here, it will never sit above a calculator or be presented as a recommendation.
Three languages
The site exists in German, Dutch and English: for households in Germany and Austria, in the Netherlands and Flanders, all tied to the same European day-ahead market, and for everyone living there in English.
